Note from home.

Wanted to send our condolence's.
Aunt Dot was one great lady.
I will always remember her as a sweet , fun love'n gal.
We sure had some good time's.

I remember her baking for her family for the holiday's
and helping her wrap each cookie and fudge.
popping the corn and packing the goodies.
Then it was off to the post office,
and she would always complain about how much it cost,
but the next year we were at it again.
Penni, just said yesterday, she remember helping wrap the cookies.

She use to do it all by herself,
but it got to be to much for her to do and we would help.

Going to her house for coffee on Saturday morning,
and she always had cookies to go with the coffee.
She was a super cookie baker and pies!!!
Going shopping and to Dr. appointments,
talked to her everyday and then once a week after she moved.
We will never forget her,
missed her like crazy, when she went to live in So. Bend.
but we knew that was where she needed to be, near her family.
Keeping you all in our prayers.

Dorothy Mae Shaffner

February 16, 1923 - January 31, 2013
Can you hear the music? Do you feel the joy?
The party started at 5:00 tonight and has been going on ever since!
I wish I could have seen Mema's face when everyone welcomed her Home!
Or seen "their" faces as she "danced" thru the doors!
All the hugs, all the kisses, all the happy laughter!
Oh what a party! Can you hear it?!

When we talked about her passing,
she told me to make sure and tell everyone:
"There she goes!
She had a Great time while she was here!"
Yes she did!
You will be missed Mema

The beginning party line is from a dear friend  of mine,
when her mother passed away this year.
What a lovely picture
and how very true!
Grandpa and she are dancing and celebrating again!

Last days

Hil and I went to see Mema today at the nursing home.
It has been three weeks since I saw her because I broke my foot.
The last time I was with her, she was in the hospital
after her pace maker battery failed.
Today she had deteriorated so much in such a short time.
I won't go into details because it is very sad.
I love that my baby girl is with me in this.
Bless her tender heart.
I love how strong my mom has been it taking care of her mom
with the help of my dad.
We are Mema's constants.
We have been blessed to be.

So with the love of friends and their advice,
I am going to share a photo dump of the pics I have on the computer now.
What a wonderful, strong, funny, hard working, loving, determined, particular
put together, feisty, frugal, long suffering, beautiful, country, loved,
always smiling, always caring, inspiring woman I have ever known.

If you knew her, you are so lucky!
If you didn't, I feel bad for you....but wait for the party she will be throwing in heaven!

I'm going through photos over the next few days..
Ill add more, so check back,
and if you have any photos or stories....
now is the time.
